Soul's Remnant Builds: Classes, Stats, Skills & Echoes

Soul's Remnant builds and classes: the classless system, six stats, 3:1 CON split, skill lines, echoes, and setups players actually run. Checked August 2026.

8/14/2026 Last updated: 8/28/2026

Soul’s Remnant has no classes at all. Any character can equip any gear and learn any skill from the four skill lines, so your build is shaped by stat points, skill choices, and echoes on your gear. This guide explains the melee, range, magic, and faith skill trees, the six stats, the echo system, and the builds players run now. The 3:1 CON split, echo cap, and elements were checked against the official wiki; combat notes include the Aug 21 magic rework. Last checked August 28, 2026.

A Classless System

The official store page calls it a classless skill system. Nothing at character creation locks you in. Your class is whatever mix of skills and stats you assemble. You are free to mix and match from day one.

Are there classes in Soul’s Remnant?

No. There is no class selection, no class quest, and no class gear restriction. Any character can equip any gear and learn skills from all four lines. The classless system is one of the game’s headline features on Steam. You can rebuild your character any time the respec rules allow.

What are the four skill lines?

Melee, range, magic, and faith. Melee covers close combat. Range covers throwing and bow skills. Magic covers burst damage and utility spells. Faith is the support line, but it carries a real main attack too.

Skills and How They Level

Every skill has its own progress bar. You cannot learn a skill and call it done. Use it, feed it essences, and it grows. The more you use a skill, the stronger that skill gets.

What skills does each line have?

Melee has slash, heavy strike, shield slam, and taunt. Range has ninja throw and archery. Magic has magic burst, nova (an AoE blast), soul bomb, flamethrower (at magic mastery 15), and blink. Faith has heal and revitalize, burst shield (which reflects damage), armor link, and divine blessing. Nova also serves as the faith line’s main attack, and deeper skills gate behind line level, with shield slam unlocking at melee 15 (player report).

LineRoleRepresentative skills
MeleeClose-range damage, aggro controlSlash, Heavy Strike, Shield Slam (melee 15), Taunt
RangeRanged damage, kitingNinja Throw, Triple Throw, Arrow Rain, archery skills
MagicBurst, AoE, mobilityMagic Burst, Nova, Soul Bomb, Flamethrower (magic 15), Blink (magic 10)
FaithHealing, shields, party buffsRevitalize, Burst Shield, Armor Link, Divine Blessing

Blink is a teleport dash that unlocks at magic level 10. Players still call it a must-have movement skill (player report). It makes travel and dodging dramatically faster, and it changes how you move between farming spots. If you plan to use magic at all, push the line to 10 early just for blink.

How do individual skills level?

Each skill has its own EXP bar and levels up by use. Higher ranks need monster-dropped essences plus skill points. Only the skills you actually use grow, so a neglected skill stays weak. Hoard the essences you find, because every upgrade eats them.

What is the macro system?

The game includes a macro system that chains several skills to one button (player report). Set one up once your hotbar holds two or three skills you use together. One press can then run your usual sequence. It keeps long grinding rotations simple.

The Six Stats and the 3:1 Rule

Stats are the other half of every build. Six stats exist, and players still use a simple spending rule: most points in one damage stat, a slice in CON. Life skills also grant combat stats, so your crafting levels quietly feed your build too.

What does each stat do?

STR is melee damage, DEX is range damage, and INT is magic damage. SPR is faith damage and your MP pool, and it slightly raises magic damage too. CON is HP, defense, and HP regeneration, with a small bonus to melee and faith damage. LUK is critical hit chance with a small range bonus. Match your main stat to your skill line: STR for melee, DEX for range, INT for magic, SPR for faith.

Two details from the official wiki matter for optimization. First, SPR always raises your maximum MP, but MP regeneration only improves at hidden breakpoints - and CON works the same way for HP regeneration and defense. Second, your gear controls “icon stats” you can never point into directly: speed (+1% per point), jump (+1% per point), attack speed, critical hit rate, and defense.

What is the 3:1 rule?

A player-strategy guideline is to spend about 25-30% of your points on CON and the rest on your main damage stat, roughly a 3:1 split. Survivability still beats damage in the level 20+ zones like Spooky Forest and Sulfur Plains (player report). If you die in one or two hits, the fix is usually more CON. Follow the rule, and lean even harder on CON after level 20.

What does the 3:1 split look like?

The chart below is the 3:1 split: your main damage stat gets the big share, and CON takes a steady quarter-to-third of every level’s points.

Main damage stat (STR / DEX / INT / SPR)70-75%
Constitution (CON)25-30%

Player-strategy guideline. Lean harder on CON after level 20 — survivability beats damage in Spooky Forest and Sulfur Plains (player report).

When can I respec?

Respecs are free before level 10, and you can reset your attributes once per real-life hour (official wiki). At level 10 and higher, each reset costs Soul Crystals, and the price rises with your level. The free window under level 10 lets new players test several spreads at no cost, so experiment before the fee kicks in.

Echoes: Extra Stats on Gear

Echoes are the gear layer of builds. Souls dropped by monsters create and reroll echo stats. Rarity bubbles tell you what you found at a glance. They are how late-game gear gets customized.

What are echoes?

Echoes are sub-stats added to your gear. Each echo line gives a piece of equipment an extra stat, and one piece can hold up to 5 echo stats (official wiki). They make your gear deeply customizable, since you shape each piece yourself. Pieces without echoes can still gain them through soul items.

Where do souls come from?

Souls drop from monsters while you grind (player report). Energetic, turbulent, and ambitious souls all come from drops, so every farming session feeds your echo crafting. Keep the ambitious souls you find, since they are the rarest.

What do the soul items do?

Three soul types drive the system. An energetic soul adds an echo to a piece of gear that has none. A turbulent soul rerolls an existing echo line. An ambitious soul is rarer and adds more echo slots. Echoes can also be removed and transferred between pieces.

What do the rarity bubbles mean?

Echo rarity shows as colored bubbles on the item. The tiers are normal, rare, unique, legendary, and immortal. The bubble color tells you the tier at a glance. Watch for unique and legendary lines when you sort soul drops.

How do I disassemble echoes?

Disassembling echoes now requires alchemy level 15. This is a live-game change; the playtest had no such requirement (player report). If you plan to break echoes down, start leveling alchemy early. Older playtest advice that skips this step is outdated.

Element: The Hidden Layer of Builds

Your weapon’s element is part of your build too. There are seven element types: Normal, Fire, Ice, Ghost, Metal, Lightning, and Water (official wiki). Every attack you deal has a chance - starting at 15% - to trigger your weapon’s element effect at a starting 50% potency.

How does element change my damage?

Every element has a unique additional effect beyond its visual. Normal, the default, adds a burst of extra damage when it procs. Weapons change your element automatically when you equip them, and you can deliberately change a weapon’s element with the Transmutation life skill if you have the materials. Element also changes how your skills look, from recolored particles to entirely different sprites.

Do elements counter each other?

Element damage matchups are not active in the current build of the game, so you can run whatever element you want without losing damage. Pick your element for its additional effect and for the look, not for a counter chart.

What Changed After Launch

The 3:1 CON split, the 5-line echo cap, and the seven elements did not get replaced. What moved is combat.

Respec is still once per real-life hour. Free before level 10, Soul Crystal fee that rises with level after that (official wiki). Echoes are still 5 lines, still capped by item level. Elements are still Normal, Fire, Ice, Ghost, Metal, Lightning, Water, still 15% chance / 50% potency at base, still no active counter table.

The Aug 21 magic rework is the real build patch: Gust 4.5s → 3s with 25% less damage, Star Fall is a toggle, Gravity Well is a 5s explode-on-end well, Arcane Surge shots are twice as fast and last 10s but die after 14 hits, Soul Bomb deals 30% bonus to bosses. Toggle skills (Dark Fire, Divine Thorn, Star Fall) snuff if you idle. Pure ranged went up about 30%; Holy Arrow and Soul Shot about 40%. Aug 22 lets Star Fall recast to reposition.

The grind players copy now is Whirlwind plus Dark Fire, not the week-one crit archer poster. Details: best builds and Whirlwind & Dark Fire.

Builds Players Actually Run

These are current starting points, not a frozen list. Early Access will keep moving. For the five jobs (grind / dungeon / beginner / support / boss), use the best builds page.

What is a good solo build?

A melee plus faith paladin is a popular solo choice (player build). Heal and revitalize keep you alive while melee skills deal the damage. Burst shield adds damage reflection on top of your own hits. It trades some clear speed for excellent staying power.

What is the crit archer?

The DEX plus LUK crit archer leans into LUK for crits and range. Players mention around 100 luck as a target for the build (player report). Pair DEX for base range damage with LUK for crits. This is a glass-cannon style, so add enough CON to survive the zones past level 20.

Are hybrids viable?

Yes. A magic-melee hybrid combines magic blade skills with physical melee (player report). The classless system makes mixing lines straightforward, since nothing locks you out of a second line. Faith support builds also work well in parties, focused on heal, armor link, and divine blessing, so experiment freely during the free respec window.

Does monster research help builds?

Yes, indirectly. Research level 4 on a monster gives a 5% EXP and drop bonus on it. More drops mean more essences for skill upgrades and more souls for echo rolls. Research the mobs you grind most, and every part of your build progresses faster.

There is no counter chart — pick the effect

Element damage matchups are NOT active in the current build: there is no counter chart, and running any element costs you no damage. Pick for the extra effect (and the look), not for a weakness table.

  • Normal

The default: its proc adds a burst of extra damage rather than a status effect.

Pick it when: You simply want more raw damage and no extra condition to track.

  • Water

Has its own additional effect; it is the pick players report for MP pressure.

Pick it when: You are starving MP on a caster or faith build.

How often does your element actually fire?

Official base rates: every attack has a 15% chance to trigger the element effect, and that effect starts at 50% potency. This is arithmetic on those two numbers plus your own pace — not a damage estimate.

Enter your attack pace to see the expected procs per minute.

The element list, the 15% base chance and the 50% base potency come from the official wiki. The “pick this one when” lines are player reports, not official balance statements. Weapons set their own element when equipped, and the Transmutation life skill can change it if you have the materials.
