Mining in Soul’s Remnant is a gathering life skill, not a combat skill. The official wiki Gathering page is the source for the loop: press the skill, walk to a revealed node, press Interact (Spacebar by default), then choose a reward with directional inputs. Fishing uses a different minigame. How you first get a pickaxe is not yet confirmed on the official wiki. Checked August 19, 2026.
How Do You Mine?
Mining and other gathering nodes share one control scheme.
What are the steps?
- Press the mining / gathering skill.
- Walk over a revealed node.
- Press Interact. Spacebar is the default.
- One or more rows of options appear.
- Enter the directional combination for the reward you want.
That is the entire published loop. There is no separate swing-the-pickaxe combat attack.
Why do people search “how to get a pickaxe”?
Google is already showing how to get a pickaxe next to Soul’s Remnant mining queries. The official Mining wiki page is still an empty stub, and Gathering never names a vendor or quest that hands you the tool. Until the wiki or a second official source lists it, treat pickaxe acquisition as not yet confirmed. Do not trust a random shop location from an unlabeled video.
How Is Fishing Different?
Fishing is the other gathering minigame players mix up with mining.
What is the fishing loop?
Press the fishing skill and land the bobber in water. When you see and hear a yellow exclamation mark over your head, press the fishing skill again. A window opens. Keep the fish inside the gray box with Left and Right.
Where should I fish?
Beach Hunting Ground lists Exotic Tuna, Ice Salmon, Starfish, Clownfish, Eelectray, and Glowfish. Regular beach maps in the leveling guide are the safer early spots if you have not found the blue-flower door yet.
How Do Life Skills Feed Combat?
Launch-week guides and the official crafting / stats pages agree that life skills grant combat stats. Mining is one door into that loop. The crafting guide covers weapon smithing, armor, jewelry, cooking, and alchemy, plus the card minigame used when you turn ore into gear.
What should I mine first?
The wiki does not publish a per-node table on the Mining page. Beach Hunting Ground lists Quartz and Stone. Early overworld maps also drop common stone and ore used by weapon and armor crafts. If you need a target, craft the next weapon tier on the crafting page instead of grinding a random rock.
