Soul's Remnant Ironman Guide: Solo, Group & Hardcore
How Soul's Remnant Ironman works: Hardcore Solo and Group rules, Deferri Crystal start, shared lives, guild perks, and how to remove Ironman later.
Soul’s Remnant lets you play as a Hardcore Ironman. The official wiki is blunt: this is not recommended for new players. You cannot trade, you cannot join other parties or guilds, you get no EXP from monsters other players damage, and you cannot loot kills you received help on. Group Ironman keeps those walls against the outside world but lets 2 to 5 friends share a closed circle. Checked August 19, 2026.
What Does Ironman Lock?
| Rule | Solo Ironman | Group Ironman |
|---|---|---|
| Trade with strangers | No | No |
| Party / guild with strangers | No | No |
| Trade / party / guild with your group | N/A | Yes |
| EXP or loot from helped kills | No | No (outside the group) |
| Hardcore lives | Your own life | Shared pool, one life per member |
Everyone can see your status. A badge sits to the right of your name and also on the character select screen. If you die as a Hardcore Solo, or if a Group burns its life pool, you stay Ironman with every restriction, but you lose the Hardcore badge.
How Do You Start Ironman?
You start on the first tutorial map. As of September 2025 the wiki says you must make some tricky jumps there before you can become either type of Ironman.
Where is the Deferri Crystal?
Talk to the floating Deferri Crystal on that first tutorial map. It explains what Ironman is and how to become the type you want. After you leave the tutorial, the same crystal rests below the bridge in Spawn if you need to read the rules again or remove Ironman later.
How do you form a Group Ironman?
A Hardcore Group Ironman is 2 to 5 players. The party leader must fill the party with everyone who should be in the group before anyone interacts with the Deferri Crystal. The last step is having someone leave through the portal into the second tutorial map. That locks the group.
Forming the group also creates and enters a guild together for free, skipping the usual 1,000 Soul Crystal guild fee. If you later leave that guild, you become a Solo Ironman.
How Do Hardcore Lives Work?
Solo Hardcore is simple: die and you lose the Hardcore badge. Group Hardcore is a shared pool. Five members means five shared lives. Every death spends one life, even if the same player dies over and over. One player dying six times in a five-person group wipes Hardcore for everyone.
Track remaining lives in the Misc tab of the Guild Window (N). After Hardcore drops, the restrictions stay. You are still Ironman. Only the badge changes.
What Extra Guild Rules Do Ironmen Get?
Normal guilds need a member count to level. Both Ironman types remove that member requirement, so a Solo Ironman can still level a guild and take the perks. That is one of the few systems the mode makes easier, not harder.
Should a new player do Ironman?
No. The official wiki and the crystal both say Ironman is for people who already know the game. New players should use the beginner guide and a normal character. You can still try builds on a normal character using the best builds page, then make an Ironman later.
How Do You Remove Ironman?
After the tutorial, interact with the Deferri Crystal under the Spawn bridge. It tells you how to De-Ironman. That removes the icon, turns you into a standard character, and mails you anything that was in storage. You can then trade and party with anyone.
