Soul's Remnant Skill Guide: All Skills & Unlock Levels
Every Soul's Remnant skill explained: melee, range, magic and faith trees, unlock levels, passives, the macro system, and which skills players prioritize.
Soul’s Remnant has no classes: every character can learn any skill from the melee, range, magic, and faith trees, and your build is whatever combination you activate. Skills level up through use, upgrade with essences and skill points, and can be chained into one-button macros. The standout pick is Blink, a teleport dash players call a must-have. All details were checked on August 14, 2026, against the official wiki.
How Skills Work in Soul’s Remnant
The official wiki calls skills the core of Soul’s Remnant: the system that lets a player perform special feats in combat and that reflects their attribute distribution and gear. There is deliberately no class screen, and everything lives in the Skills Window, opened with K.
Is there a class system?
No. Soul’s Remnant is classless. The wiki presents four combat categories: Melee, Range, Magic, and Faith, and any character can learn any skill. Nothing at character creation locks you in, so your class is the mix of skills, stats, and equipment you activate.
How do I find and activate skills?
Press K to open the Skills Window. The Learned Skills tab lists every skill by category, with checkboxes to filter by line. Activate a skill by dragging it from the skill tree into the Active Skills area on the left, which costs a scaling amount of Soul Crystals.
Can a skill scale from a different damage type?
Yes. The wiki’s Combat Categories table shows skills can scale from damage types outside their own class. Onslaught is classified as Melee yet scales from all four stats, and its cooldown is only lowered by Melee and Global Attack Speed.
Skills by Category and What They Do
The wiki’s tables list cooldowns, durations, and damage scaling for every skill, but they do not publish a single unlock-level list, so most exact unlock levels are not yet confirmed. Two are confirmed by players: Blink unlocks at magic level 10, and Shield Slam unlocks at melee level 15 (player reports).
Melee skills
Slash is the fast basic attack on a 0.5-second cooldown. Heavy Strike lands one big hit every 2.6 seconds. Onslaught is a fast multi-hit on a 1.2-second cooldown that scales from all four damage types, and Shield Slam, a melee-plus-faith hit, unlocks at melee level 15 (player report). Taunt is the melee control buff on a 45-second cooldown: it periodically roars to grab nearby enemies’ attention, and each enemy within range grants Speed, Defense, and Global Damage up to a cap.
Range skills
Ninja Throw is the quick throwing-star attack with a 0.4-second cooldown, and Triple Throw flings three stars at once every 1.2 seconds. Dash is a short 0.5-second dodge, and Cursed Throw applies a 15-second curse. Arrow Rain, a range-plus-magic skill, rains down projectiles on a 3.6-second cooldown, and bow builds add True Shot and the heavy Realm Piercing Arrow.
Magic skills
Magic Burst is the quick starter spell on a 0.8-second cooldown. Soul Bomb is the heavy hit, carrying 1000% base magic scaling every 2.4 seconds. Flame Barrage channels flamethrower-style damage, and players place it at magic mastery 15 (player report). Gravity Well brings another magic option, and Blink, the 1.0-second teleport dash that unlocks at magic level 10, is the movement skill launch players call a must-have (player report).
Faith skills
Faith is the support line, but it carries real damage too. Nova is a large AoE burst the wiki tables class under Faith, and Revitalize heals on an 8.5-second cooldown with strong Faith scaling. Burst Shield raises a brief 2.5-second shield. Armor Link is a party buff that redirects some of a partner’s damage to you while your heals also heal them at half effect, lasting 600 seconds. Divine Blessing raises EXP, Skill EXP, and Faith damage, with nearby allies getting half.
Leveling Skills and Spending Skill Points
Combat skills grow through their own Skill EXP, while life skills simply level up once enough EXP piles up. Both feed into the wider build, and skill levels are one of the biggest DPS increases in the game.
How do combat skills level up?
Every combat skill earns its own Skill EXP. Attacking enemies and buffing allies with a skill raises its EXP, and the gain scales with the damage or effectiveness of the skill, so a neglected skill catches up fast when you start using it. EXP overflows past the current level and is visible when you hover the skill in your hotbar or the Skills Window.
What do upgrades cost?
Leveling a skill consumes Essences, Soul Crystals, Souls, and other items. At higher levels, Dungeon Crystals are also required, and those come from all dungeons or the Auction House.
How do skill points work?
You gain 2 skill points every 4 levels and 3 skill points every 12 levels. Activating a combat skill costs 1 to 3 points at level 1, then one point per extra level, up to learned level 20. Activation is free up to level 5, and running out of points leaves a skill with learned levels but a lower active level.
How do life skills level?
Life skills need no skill points and no upgrade materials. They auto-level once enough Skill EXP accumulates, cap at 99, and gate gathering materials and crafting recipes behind their levels.
Passives, Perks, and Buffs
Around the active skills sit three systems that multiply everything: category passives, basic attack perks, and buffs. Buffs in particular are why party composition matters.
What are category passives?
Skill EXP for any combat skill also feeds that category’s passive: Melee, Range, Magic, or Faith. Passives level automatically with no materials, cap at 99, and grant percentage damage every 3 levels through Skill Perks. Breakpoint levels add stats: Melee grants Max HP every 5 levels, Defense every 8, and HP regeneration every 12; Range grants Crit Rate and HP-on-hit every 6 and MP-on-hit every 8; Magic grants Shield every 2, Max MP every 5, and MP regeneration every 12; Faith grants Elemental Potency every 5, Damage Reduction every 6, and Elemental Chance every 9. Some skills require a passive at the right level to use.
What are basic attacks?
Basic attacks sit closest to the center of each tree, one active per tab. They weave between other skills without interrupting them, and each carries Perks, stat bonuses that apply only while it stays active.
How do buffs work?
Buffs are powerful multiplicative boosts that cost zero skill points, and you are limited to two active at a time. Many share part of their effect with nearby party members, which is why the wiki suggests every party member run a unique set. At level 60, the Unlocking Potential quest adds a third buff slot.
Do life skills boost combat?
Yes. Life skill perks add combat stats as they level: Alchemy grants Max HP every 4 and Max MP every 6; Weapon Smithing grants Damage Balance every 15 and Armor Pen every 29; Fishing grants LUK every 10 and Speed every 30; and Mining, Jeweler, Cooking, and Herbalism add their own stat perks.
Macros, Loadouts, and Build Ideas
Once your hotbar fills up, the macro system and loadouts keep everything manageable, and the classless system has already produced clear launch-week favorites.
How does the macro system work?
Open the Skills Window and click the Macros button at the bottom left. Five colored macro icons each hold up to six skills, and you can drag skills in from active, learned, or even life skills. Drag a macro icon onto your hotbar, and one key press fires the assigned skills left-to-right; hold the key to repeat the chain.
What do loadouts save?
Loadouts save your equipment, active skills, and macro setup together, and each loadout keeps its own macros window. Swapping loadouts costs a certain amount of Soul Crystals.
Which skills do players prioritize?
Blink at magic 10 is the top priority for movement (player report). For builds, launch players report a melee-plus-faith paladin is popular solo, pairing melee damage with Revitalize heals and Burst Shield reflection; a magic blade hybrid mixes Magic Slash and Crescent Slash into melee; and a faith blade adds Armor Link and Divine Blessing to a melee core (player reports).
