Soul’s Remnant released on August 13, 2026, in Steam Early Access. The game is free to play and available now on Steam for Windows, Mac, and Linux. Developer Chaomoon confirmed at launch that there will be no more wipes, so all progress is kept. As of August 14, 2026, no date has been announced for the 1.0 full release. This page was checked against official sources on August 14, 2026.

When Did Soul’s Remnant Release?

What is the Soul’s Remnant release date?

The official release date is August 13, 2026. The Steam store page lists this date in its release date field, and the game went live that day in Early Access. Chaomoon announced the date about five weeks earlier, on July 7, 2026. The announcement noted the date had moved from August 5 to August 13 because of unforeseen events.

Is Soul’s Remnant out now?

Yes. Soul’s Remnant is live on Steam right now. You can download and play it for free, with no purchase or key needed. The launch announcement, titled “Soul’s Remnant is now live!!”, was posted on August 13, 2026. In it, Chaomoon wrote that the team worked on the game for over ten years to reach this point.

Is it Early Access or a full release?

Early Access. The August 13, 2026 launch is not the finished 1.0 version. The developer plans to keep adding content, fixing bugs, and balancing throughout Early Access. Early Access also means things can change, so expect balance patches and the occasional bug.

Is it free to play?

Yes. There is no purchase price on Steam. The game is supported by an optional cash shop instead. The developer says the shop is cosmetics and convenience only, with no pay-to-win items.

Will My Progress Be Wiped?

Is there a wipe at launch?

No. The launch announcement states, in the developer’s own words, that there are “no more wipes!!” From Early Access onward, all progress is kept. Chaomoon made the same promise in the July 7, 2026 release date announcement, which answered the wipe question directly. The “no more wipes” wording closes the book on the pre-release testing period.

Will my progress survive into 1.0?

Yes, based on everything the developer has said. The no-wipe promise applies to Early Access and beyond. The characters people are leveling right now are meant to be permanent. Nothing has been said about a wipe at the full release, and the developer’s wording suggests there will not be one. We will update this page if that ever changes.

The Road to Launch

How long was Soul’s Remnant in development?

A long time. Chaomoon started the project in 2016 and worked on it alone until 2024, when teammate Rajah joined (player report). By launch day, the game had been in development for over ten years. The launch announcement celebrates “working on this game for over 10 years.”

What was the playtest timeline?

Soul’s Remnant went through several public playtests before launch. Here is the official timeline, built from the Steam announcements:

  • February 25, 2025: Chaomoon announced “Playtest O”, the first Steam playtest. It ran March 15 to 18, 2025, starting at 11 PM East Coast time, and was extended two days to March 20. The post notes the team originally planned an open beta, then switched to a smaller three-day playtest.
  • April 2, 2025: The Playtest O wrap-up post went up, sharing stats from the test and a feedback form.
  • September 9, 2025: A Steam Next Fest playtest went live with new features. It ran for a full month.
  • November 15, 2025: That playtest ended with a thank-you post and a call to support the game on Patreon.
  • May 27, 2026: A new public playtest was announced, open to everyone. It started June 5, 2026 at 11 PM East Coast time and ran about three weeks.
  • July 7, 2026: Chaomoon announced the Early Access launch date of August 13, 2026, and promised no more wipes.
  • August 13, 2026: Soul’s Remnant went live in Early Access, free for everyone. The announcement also linked the new official wiki and Discord server.

What changed between playtests and launch?

Each playtest was a chance to squash bugs and tune balance. After the June 2026 playtest, the team spent about a month polishing for launch. Chaomoon added more skills and items, plus final content additions, in that window. Players spotted specific changes between builds too, such as echo disassembly now requiring alchemy level 15 (player report).

When Is the Full 1.0 Release?

Is there a 1.0 release date?

No. As of August 14, 2026, Chaomoon has not announced a date for the full release. The game is in Early Access, and the 1.0 date is not yet announced. We will update this page as soon as a date is given.

What is on the roadmap?

Details are thin so far. The developer has said there are no plans for PvP, keeping the focus on cooperative play. The July announcement mentioned refining the game and adding content in the month before launch, and that work is done. Specific plans for future zones, skills, or major systems are not yet confirmed.

What will change before 1.0?

That is not yet confirmed either. Early Access games normally see balance changes, new content, and bug fixes, and the developer has promised exactly that. Expect frequent patches and new features in the coming months. We will track them on this page as they arrive.

How Active Is the Developer?

Who runs the game now?

Chaomoon and Rajah run the game as a small two-person team. A GM named Sage is active in-game and in the community (player report). The developer runs an active Discord server for bug reports and feedback. At launch, Chaomoon also opened an official wiki on wiki.gg.

How fast do patches come?

Fast. Players reported hotfixes within the first day of Early Access (player report). A day-one bug that removed buffs when changing channels was already being worked on in the first 24 hours (player report). Early Access means bugs are expected, but the developer has been quick to respond so far.

Where can I follow development?

The best places are the official channels. The Steam announcements hub posts every patch note and playtest update. The official Discord server has the fastest news and direct bug reporting. You can also follow the official X account and the official YouTube channel, where previews land first.
